Sketch Saturday #251

It's Saturday which means another fab sketch from
Sponsored by the wonderful

I always struggle so much with sympathy cards; what layout to use, what image, what words of comfort?  But today's sketch leant itself perfectly to my needs and I found an image of poppies, which I always think are perfect for sympathy cards, on line here which I coloured in Copics, using a Letraset Tria for the tiny bits.
You will see from the sketch that it called for two different elements on the top and bottom half of the card but because I wanted to keep my card clean, I opted simply for two different embossing folders and plain white linen card stock.  The top folder is a Cuttlebug swirly frame and the bottom folder is Tied Together.
My Stampin Up sentiment was stamped directly on to the image after I had spent over an hour colouring my poppies. I held my breath, used my Stampin Up Stamp-a-majig to line it up and got a perfect print.  Phew!

Don't forget to go and visit my lovely teamies' blogs and see the lovely creations they have made this week and then come and play along with us.

That was brave of you....an hour coloring and you risked it for the sentiment! It came out fabulous though! I love the effect but I think I'd be afraid to try it myself! Beautiful sympathy card and I love the color combo!

Hi Lesley

Great use of your embossing folders .. .. it keeps the card lovely and clean looking.

I always find sympathy cards so difficult to make .. .. but this one is perfect.

Stay safe and warm and have a good weekend.

Poppies are beautiful. Don't think I would have been brave enought to try that but it is a novel idea. Will try it sometime when I have plenty of time and patience to spare.!! Hugs Mrs A.

GOSH what beautiful color work!!! Love this card..

Thanks for stopping by my blog sweetie... Yes a few of my cards have and are a bit toned down with details for me. I have been working on magazine stuff for next year and they want it a bit more easy so I am in that mode I think..LOL

It is beautiful Lesley. I don't like making sympathy cards to order but I like making them just in case, oh no that sounds really wrong doesn't it! What I mean (I think) is that the fact they are generally CAS appeals to me, there is less pressure to put lots of stuff on them.

Anyway, before I dig myself any deeper, I do love this. Hugs xx
