Oranges are for Christmas stockings but The Hubster is getting an apple for his birthday

During and after WWII, lucky children in Britain received an orange in their Christmas stocking.  Oranges were in very short supply and were considered a real treat especially in the middle of winter.  My parents grew up in those war years and even though oranges were more commonplace when I was a child, we always had them (or Satsumas or Clementines) in our stockings along with little toys and chocolates.  I have always put them in my husband's Christmas stocking.  We both have stockings every year.  I still use the one my late Grandmother bought for me before I was born.
But according to The Hubster - Apples are for birthdays.
Can you guess from my card the variety?
Granny Smith? Golden Delicious? Gala, perhaps?
Any ideas?

And the case he has chosen to protect his new "apple" is called a "Zagg" which folds very much like an easel card and comes with it's own keyboard which connects to the "apple".

I just bought the wonderful Mo Manning's Bite which you can find at Mo's Digital Pencil (they have  a sale!)  and it only seemed right and proper to enter the challenge at DP2 which is "D is for..."  In this instance - D is for December Birthday.  The Hubster's just happens to be tomorrow but we are so busy with family staying it is unlikely that he will look at my blog.

I made my ipad frame and added some altered "icons" to represent the birthday theme.  My image is merged on top.   I sourced a white keyboard diagram and inverted the colour selection to make it black with white symbols.  I moved the letters around using Photoshop and then printed a second set from which I have cut the keys to pop up as my sentiment.  My papers are Prima and I added a metal embellishment from my stash.

It's the middle of the night so I'm sorry for the poor photo quality!

I am also entering the challenges at

Lesley this is friggin awesome. You are so clever, soooo love it and so very creative, can't stop looking at it. He'll love it. I always put stockings out for the kids who are now 17 and 20 and even though they don't like satsuma's it wouldn't be christmas without them finding one in each. Traditions hey!
