To Case or to Copy

Half the enjoyment of blog hopping for me is seeing the wonderful creations of wonderful crafters and gaining inspiration from them.  I often case elements or layouts of other people's work and I always credit them where possible.   I made a new discovery not so long ago- a blog by Tracy at I wanna Build a Memory that I absolutely LOVE.  Her colouring is fabulous and her style so versatile.  One particular make - a photo album - really caught my eye.  I had been struggling to make the right card for a dear cousin for days and the cover of Tracy's album struck me as just perfect for what I needed.   Do take a look at Tracy's album which you can find here - the inside of which is as beautiful as the outside.  I wanted to make my creation a bit different but frankly the elements of Tracy's design were too perfect not to follow and I ended up with more copy than case but I did ask Tracy first.
I used the same Cuttlebug embossing folder as Tracy because it's so perfect for this look but I added a criss cross of my favourite ribbon, some Marianne die swirls and skeleton leaves and flowers made with some paper from my scrap draw (it might be LLB but I can't guarantee it).  I heat embossed my alphabet stamps and added some tiny Recollections punched flowers with Distress Ink Stickles centres too.
I'm hoping dear cousin will like it and I'm very grateful to Tracy!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
My Mum's Craft Shop 52 Celebration
Sir Stampalot - Happy Birthday
Crafty Creations - 165 Flower Power

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, I had to step out  but I hope to spend some time catching up with my blog buddies tomorrow.

Hi Lesley! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get here and comment. I've had a nasty cold and my hubby hurt his foot. Crazy household and I got way behind in visiting. I think your card turned out wonderfully. I love those beautiful fancy letters and your flower embellishments look amazing. I think you did a lovely case of my album and made it Lesley style. :-) Hugs!
