Sketch Saturday #253

It's Saturday which means another fab sketch from
This week's it's Carrie's turn to host the challenge
Sponsored by the wonderful

When I first saw Carrie's sketch my first thought was "Wow, that's different!".   My next thought was "Gosh, how am I going to use it?"  but you know - it was a really easy sketch to use and I'm really pleased with my card which is for my soon to be 11 year old nephew who is not only celebrating his birthday but has also recently been told that he has won a much coveted place, following some tricky exams and an interview, to a VERY good school later this year.   We couldn't be more proud of him!!!
I used this fabulous little guy called Overload At School which is in a set here by Cheryl Alger at Sassy Cheryl's and he was an absolute dream to colour with my Copics.  My background DP is DCWV Texted  and the paper in the semicircles is Basic Grey Wanderer.  I cut the number 11 digits on my Cricut and used some Stamps Away sentiments cut with a Stampin Up Jewellery Tag punch.  Some school-style buttons were added as a nod to the funny tiny motifs surrounding the central circle of the sketch and I skipped the ribbon because I didn't think I needed it on my card.   Oh, and I added a tiny emblem to my book bindings - it's the emblem and the colours of my nephew's new school.  I do so like to personalise my cards!
Please come and play along with Carrie's fabulous sketch and don't forget to drop by my teamies' blogs to share some love.

I am entering my card into the following challenges:
Aud Sentiments - For a Child
Kaboodle Doodle - Use 2 Different DPs
Simon Says Stamp - Happy Birthday
