Basic Grey Challenge

I was hugely inspired by the current Basic Grey Challenge.  Whereas my first thought was to use red with white/cream; it was the curtains that really got to me and brought to mind a perfect Sarah Kay image "Peace Noel" and my need to make at least one Christmas Card before the week is out!  I am surprisingly short of red and cream papers so I changed the colours and used the room itself as inspiration for a card for my Mother. Thus inspired I set out on this somewhat ambitious project:

Image by Sarah Kay (of course) coloured with Promarkers;
Curtains, wall-paper and floor covering by Basic Grey;
Poinsettias by Jolee's Boutique;
Sentiment by Crafty Bitz; and
Wall picture by Papermania

I am calling it "Christmas at the Old Converted Church".  I pleated the "curtain pelmet" through one of those concertina machines and I also pleated the curtains (in two parts) by hand. The skirting board is a strip of cardboard embossed with two lines for the "moulding". Furniture is taken from photos, scanned and printed on to Basic Grey. The detail of the skirting and furniture were then highlighted with Promarkers. The window is stamped onto one of last year's Christmas Cards and then heat embossed. I only went through all my old cards last week and, having thrown them away, I had to do a bit of bin-diving to retrieve an image I liked! This one was part of a card by Trevor C Wells (credit where credit is due!).

I heat embossed the edge of the front of the card to match the church window before putting it all together.    I am really pleased with it and hope Mum will be too!
