Sketch Saturday #244

It's Saturday which means another fab sketch from
This week it's Trish's sketch and we are
Sponsored by the wonderful

Before I show you my card, I have a hot tip for all you folk out there who like to have a sketch to play with.  Are you ready?
It's a great tip:

"LOOK at the sketch BEFORE you print, colour and cut your image to size".

For some reason I thought the image was rectangular so I printed it in the top corner of my page, coloured it up and cut out my rectangle. Then I thought I would just check back to see the other design elements of the sketch before I put my card together.  That is when I discovered my oops!  My image should have been in a circle.  I think I just about managed to save it by cutting it with a Nestie circle to give it round sides and backing it with some leaves cut from a Memory Box tree and then mounting the whole thing in a scalloped circle and then on a square and another Nestie.

We were lucky enough to be given some images to play with and I chose this cute Springtime Birdies and coloured it up with Copics.  My corner dies are by Marianne, the sentiment is LOTV and the DP is DCWV Garden Party.
Do pop over to my teamies' blogs and share some love and then come and play along with Trish's sketch.
I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Hey Lesley, I love the card you've made. It's stunning. Wouldn't know you had cut the wrong shape as it's turned out wonderfully with the tree branches above and below!!

Good save Lesley. It is so much more interesting with the little leaves filling out your circle. It matches the background paper and is just lovely! It is true that some of our best creations come from our mistakes.

LOL I know how you felt when you realized it needed to be a circle. I have done that before, but you did a great job saving it! I love those spring colors. The DCWV Garden party paper is just beautiful with your image! Thanks for joining us at the DPDC this month!

I'd say you made a great save Lesley. In fact, I think it looks pretty cool. Adding the leaves tied in with both the image and background paper. It turned out beautifully! Hugs!

Nice save ! I can't even count how many times I have not left enough room for the shape I want. You really turned your mistake into a beautiful card. Thanks for participating at Doodle Pantry.
