Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge

As soon as I saw this amazing "inspiration photo" at Mo's Digital Pencil, I knew exactly which image I would use. I didn't own it and had to buy it (plus another seven images which just happened to dive into my cart at the same time!  How did that happen?)  I also knew I wanted to incorporate the grey tones of the yarn in the picture and try my hand at my first black and white colouring. It would have been impossible to ignore the beautiful bright colours so I also picked the oranges and greens with pink and a hint of saffron. The image is called "Darn It" and my card is for best matey's hubby who will be 50 later this year. He will love this image, I'm sure, and I'm delighted to have carried the sewing theme throughout. I just hope he doesn't decide to go blog hopping for some reason and see it beforehand!

My main background paper is DCWV. The sentiment is word processed and layered with an SU punch. The recipient of the card may be hitting a milestone birthday but he is very good looking and I intend to soften the blow of the external sentiment with something like "and still SEW handsome at 50" on the inside. The candy is by Craftworks and is nestled in a scalloped edge which is also an SU punch. I painted the green ones with my Copics and the image is coloured in a Promarker/Copic combo.
As with all my photos, you can left click to enlarge and for some reason the picture is always much clearer when it is bigger. Thank you for stopping by!

I love your image and your choice of colours.

What a great piece of inspiration too.

You asked how come you had missed so many creations on my blog .. .. well I can say the same of yours.

Don't know about you but my life has been a bit of a blur this past week and I have been playing catch up nearly all the time.

Enjoy what is left of Sunday.

How fabulous. Wonderful shading on the elf and the bright spot of color on his pants and the spool are fabulous. It reminds me of the Wizard of Oz when it changes to color. Good luck and thanks for joining in on the fun at Mo's Digital Challenge blog.
