Rip it Up with Kraftin Kimmie, Creative Inspirations and Sketch Saturday

Sketch Saturday has a really good sketch this week and I used it as the basis for the seventh of my Valentine Cards for hubby who will be away for the whole week, including Valentine's Day.  The theme over at Kraftin Kimmie is "be a little ripper".   I have never been one to use the torn paper look (although I admire it in others) and now I know why paper tearing is part of distressing!  Boy was I distressed by ripping my lovely paper!  At first, it was so darn neat it looked like I had cut it with scissors and I had to keep going back and ripping it some more. In the end I attacked the edges with a nail file and that seemed to do the trick!

Creative Inspirations has a pink and cream theme so I picked out some appropriately coloured Laura Ashley papers and tore them up a bit before colouring my Kraftin Kimmie image with my Copics and Promarkers.  I inked the concave side of a cuttlebug folder and ran some cream card through it for the panel on the right.
There are some skeleton leaves just poking out on the left behind the image (the sketch had feathers in that spot) and, to finish it off, I used some real flowers (because they looked a little more rumpled than punched ones and I'm certainly not at the stage where I can punch out a flower and then screw it into a ball before opening it out again!).    The sentiment is word processed and cut using two Stampin Up punches and the image is cut using a nestie.  I even tore the paper around the nestie for the pink background for the image.

Inside it reads "I'm all torn up waiting for you!"  You see, even though I like the card (and love the image), I felt I had to apologise for ripping the papers!

Lovely card using the lovely Miss Lillith!! Great job with the challenge too!

Sorry you are dismayed at my lack of Mr. Linky....but I have a lack of computer knowledge when it comes to that stuff. Not to worry though...I found your creation just fine!

Beautiful job on the pink and cream challenge. I love your torn edges and matching sentiment. I had to laugh when you wrote that you were at the stage that you could crumple up papers to make handmade flowers. That's my favorite kind - LOL!! I guess I've been ripping and tearing longer than you. Anyway, love your card and the sassy image and sentiment. So happy you could have some fun with us at Creative Inspirations this week.

Hehe, I can SO understand your reluctance to tear the paper, I almost feel it physically if I do that to mine (not very often!). But great job, it looks amazing!

A gorgeous card Lesley and I love the sentiments. I very rarely tear my papers but I love distressing. A friend who once bought a card from me came back later to tell me it was ripped, I had to point out it was like that when she bought it and that I had done it on purpose.
